So who is this "Awesome Nick D" guy?
Nick DeStefano or "Awesome Nick D", as most call him, is an energetic, upbeat and enthusiastic leadership speaker with some major goals for young professionals. He’s on a mission to:
1. End the fear of being new in a job for every young professional. 2. Ensure every 18-35 year old in the workforce will confidently see themselves as a leader. 3. Make work AWESOME for every young professional. Why is this so important to Nick and to you, because being a new professional is not easy. As a young professional himself, much like many today, he didn’t receive the training and support necessary to grow as a leader. He continually struggled to advance despite knowing he had the leadership capacity to make a difference. Because of this, he’s made it his mission to make leadership and resilience a priority for every young professional. |
Powered by his definition of leadership and resilience, Nick has spent over a decade training thousands of young professionals. He got his start in higher education in student affairs as a leadership educator working with student organizations and resident assistants at Coastal Carolina University. He later transitioned to a full-time role in Training and Development, allowing him to provide leadership and service courses focused specifically on student employees.

During this time, Nick founded his speaking business, DeStefano Leadership, better known as Chasing the Awesome Life. The name for his speaking business is inspired by his oldest son CALvin. At the age of 2, Calvin was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Since that moment, Nick and his wife Megan have come a along way. Initially, what was an unknown diagnosis, and a fearful future has turned into their greatest gift. Calvin and his new identity as autistic and awesome has redefined what leadership looks like in action. Calvin taught them joy and love while also giving them the strength to be resilient. The lessons, stories, and failings from Chasing the Awesome Life with Cal are all part of Nick’s work as a speaker. He brings honest and real conversations and stories from his life to all of his work as a speaker.

What the ruck is up with the weighted backpack? You might have been asking yourself this question: What's with this guy and wearing a backpack? Here's why I find it necessary to do my presentations and programs with 30 pounds (or more!) on my back. |

When Nick takes the stage, his energy and enthusiasm always ight up the room. As a dynamic speaker, and the only one who wears a weighted backpack, Nick stands out from the rest. He wants to show the potential that each member of your audience has, and their ability to be awesome. When they recognize and embrace this, your culture will be awesome. Nick's results speak for themselves...
“ Nick is an AWESOME educator, facilitator and speaker. I have worked with Nick on a variety of events for different audiences, both large and small and a variety of topics. He has been able to cater to exactly what that group needed and met them where they were at but also challenged and pushed the students to think further. He is great to work with and can make any program that you have AWESOME! ”
